Mitya is the eldest of the three Galkin boys. Tall, strong, handsome, and a military man to bring it all together- people in high society tend to like him. He is very friendly and funny, though he can be quite dense. He is a self diagnosed casanova, he loves women and partying and drinking. He is also a bit of a dandy- highly concerned with his own appearance and fashion. Most of his life has been easy and fun, up until the accident. Now he has trouble walking and his future in the military is over. He is doubtful that he will find new hope for a good future on the prison island of Sakhalin, but it seems to be his only option.
